Cardozo, Abraham

(1626-1706)
   Spanish marrano physician and mystic. He was born in Rio Seco. He became an adherent of Shabbetai Tzevi, supporting him even after his apostasy; he expounded Shabbetaian doctrines in a number of published works. His theology was based on gnostic dualism. He disparaged the value of the hidden First Cause and placed supreme importance on the God of Israel.
